Losing Weight and getting ripped and cut or for the ladies, getting toned is a matter of losing body fat. Many people try to lose body fat by doing a lot of cardio. But cardio done incorrectly can actually hinder your weight loss goals. When you workout and do cardio, the body see’s this as a catabolic and stressful activity. To compensate the body will actually start to eat up muscle mass. Why? Because your body’s main concern is survival. And the more muscle mass you have on your frame the more energy it takes for you to live. That is why the body is always trying to break down muscle mass. Why do you think when you are sick or stop working out you lose muscle mass so quickly? It’s your body’s catabolic hormones kicking in to reduce your muscle mass. Therefore, when trying to lose weight, its important to actually reduce your cardio, increase your weight training, and really, really tighten up your diet. Your diet is THE most important thing when trying to lose weight. No If’s and’s or but’s. You can spend 2 hours doing cardio, (which I see people doing all the time) but if you don’t have a strict diet you’re just going to wind up looking like an out of shape, non toned, saggy skin person. Keep the cardio to a minimum, workout with free weights, and eat a high protein diet. Of course incorporate whey crisps into the foods you eat throughout the day. This will ensure that your body will have the fuel to recover, maintain muscle mass, and begin to build new lean muscle
